Key Words: AOC calls Greene the kind of person ‘that I threw out of bars all the time’

“I used to work as a bartender and these are the kinds of people that I threw out of bars all the time.”

That was Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Thursday, speaking to reporters about colleague Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who had aggressively confronted her outside the House chamber on Wednesday.

According to the Washington Post, the Georgia Republican and Trump loyalist followed Ocasio-Cortez after a House session ended on Wednesday, shouting questions at her and falsely claiming Ocasio-Cortez supported “terrorists.” The New York Democrat reportedly did not respond and kept walking.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, confirmed the incident Thursday, calling it “verbal assault and abuse.”

“It’s so beyond the pale that you wonder, it probably is a matter for the Ethics Committee,” Pelosi said, according to CNN.

When asked about the incident Thursday, Ocasio-Cortez said: “For me, this isn’t even about how I feel. It’s that I refuse to allow young women, people of color, people who are standing up for what they believe, to see this kind of intimidation attempts by a person who supports white supremacists in our nation’s capital.”

Greene has repeatedly pushed hateful and violent conspiracy theories and white nationalist rhetoric.

Greene tweeted about the incident, telling Ocasio-Cortez on Wednesday: “You are also a hate-America terrorist sympathizer,” and on Thursday saying “You’re too weak & afraid to debate me about your own socialist policy.”

“You know, it would be nice if they would treat us civilly. But ever since Jan. 6, they can’t even treat us with respect,” Greene told reporters Thursday, according to The Hill.
