The board game Monopoly, which has been around for more than 85 years, is getting a refresh.
Say goodbye to the “Community Chest” cards that offer rewards and penalties for things like beauty contests and holiday funds.
Moreover, the game hopes to acknowledge the changes that have taken place during COVID-19.
“[C]oming out of the tumultuous year of 2020, the term ‘community’ has taken on a whole new meaning,” the announcement says.

product, is asking the public for suggestions about what should appear on the cards instead. Among the choices: a prize of 100 Monopoly dollars for volunteering on social media projects at a favorite nonprofit; building a new school playground for 100 Monopoly dollars; and a “get-out-of-jail-free” card after a video chat with friends.
Hasbro has recently refreshed another of its iconic names. The Potato Head family has replaced Mr. Potato Head in what was, at first, dubbed an effort to “to promote gender equality and inclusion.”
Barbie’s parent company, has also made updates in recent years to bring the iconic doll into more modern times, including adding dolls of different body types, hair textures and skin tones.
Hasbro stock has skyrocketed more than 110% over the past year, outpacing the S&P 500 index
which is up 71.3% for the period.
